  Capitol Hill, DC
      Power brokers and rowhouse owners

Ranging from Union Station to the Southeast Freeway, Capitol Hill is a 19th Century neighborhood primarily made up of expensive and architecturally distinct row houses. Originally Capitol Hill was an eclectic mix of upscale Congressman and more modest middle class workers, but over time land values have made it one of the District's most affluent mixed-use neighborhoods.

Perhaps it’s ironic that a neighborhood so well known in name can be so oft-forgotten in practice. Most people in the United States are aware there is a place in Washington called Capitol Hill, but even in the minds of many locals that place constitutes nothing more than the home of the US Capitol Building. The neighborhood itself seems to reflect that mentality. Populated by low-rise buildings, primarily residential in character, and shrouded by a lush tree canopy, Capitol Hill is without a doubt the sleepiest of Washington’s close-in neighborhoods. It’s the perfect home for the biggest library in the world.

Those looking for a quiet, somewhat nostalgic home with a touch of southern grace adore Capitol Hill. Those looking for action and excitement would do well to look elsewhere.
