Well removed from the bustle of the more central sections of town and home to long time DC residents, Petworth represents what some people might consider "the real DC"; from a community perspective if not an architectural one anyway.
Physically it's contemporary with many Midwestern inner city neighborhoods. It’s character reflects that time period, as it’s not as dense as your typical Eastern neighborhood and the architecture is generally of bungaloid styles rather than older red brick types.
